Overview: Around the world, indigenous peoples are returning to traditional foods produced by traditional methods of subsistence. The goal of controlling their own food systems, known as food sovereignty, is to reestablish healthy lifeways to combat contemporary diseases such as diabetes and obesity. This is the first book to focus on the dietary practices of the Navajos, from the earliest known times into the present, and relate them to the Navajo Nation's participation in the global food sovereignty movement. I was pleasantly surprised. The author did a great job wrapping everything up at the end. No weird plot holes left behind. Glad I picked this up.

Finished it in a couple of days. I got really invested in the main character's journey. Everything just clicked for me. Definitely recommend it if you like this genre.

I have mixed feelings about this one. It had some good moments, but the overall plot felt a bit disjointed in the second half. Probably won't read it again, but it was an okay way to pass the time.

Pretty good overall. I liked the main character, though some of the side plots were just okay. A solid 4 stars from me.
